WOW! Eight 6922s! I thought I had it bad with 6 in my BAT VK-30 and VK-D5. Sure is expensive to roll tubes, isn't it. ;-)In my limited experience, the Amperex 7308s were the best sounding and did not suffer from pronounced bass, which is what I noticed with Siemens 7308s. Amperex 6922 PQ (white labels) are pretty neutral in my experience. You might want to try these.
Another thought...when I put some Vibrapods under my CDP, I noticed a tightening in bass response that made it sound less "fat" and strong. Maybe those, or cones, might be the tweak you're looking for, and a lot cheaper than 8 tubes.
