Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

(I apologize in advance if this message is a duplicate but the first posting didn't seem to work.)Can someone tell me how different tube amps with the same output tube complement achieve wildly different output ratings? For example, why does the Dyna ST-70 achieve about 25wpc while an amp such as the CJ MV-55 reaches 45wpc. They both use two EL-34s per channel. What is the major factor in determining output power? Could an amp like the ST-70 be modded to put out more than 25wpc? Thanks.
