Ran across the Viac site researching 2A3's while listening to Horace Silver's "Blowin' Away the Blues." (I spent my 21st Birthday evening listening to Horace Silver at the Jazz Workshop on North Beach in San Francisco in 1962. Interesting how this old 1959 two-track analog mastered Blue Note album sounds much more lifelike than the 1991 "audiophile" Chesky/Phil Woods CD that I played next!)
I enjoy my excellent little EL84 AS-USA SE amp, but there's not quite enough magic. What amazes me, though is the consistant glowing praises I read about 2A3 amps. So I'll keep the Bryston in the main system, sell the AS-USA (need the money after the BIG medical deductable), work on my retirement investment goals, and try the 2A3 world when I can.
I wonder if the Viac 2A3 can be pushed to 6 or 7 watts without compression or distortion? I'm sure that JC Morrison, Herb Rechert, Doc Bottlehead, or somebody will check it out.
