got a problem with my Jolida 302A. The left channel stopped working yesterday morning. There is a faint and buzzy signal but that's all. What's interesting is that when I turn the off switch, the sound comes through clear and at the right volume for a few moments as the tubes go down.

At first, I tried the controls in case there was some bad contact. No obvious sign of a problem there. Then I tried the tubes: I replaced each tube or pair one at a time; no luck there, same problem.

next I opened up the works to check for any obvious shorts or visual problems. I'm not experienced enough for serious troubleshooting at this point; all I can do is some simple soldering and replacement of parts. I found a wire that had some burn through pressed against a resistor. It came from one of the left side preamp tube sockets, so it looked like a problem. I did a quick splice to be sure there wasn't a short there; alas, same problem. so I am suspecting the resistor but I don't know what to check for or how to check it. I'm probably going to take the whole thing into a shop soon, but I wonder if anyone can clue me in to what could be going on.

I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks.

Jim
