Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

No, I Haven't

I don't have much info re: the gold-pin version of EH's 6SN7. It shouldn't be that expensive, when it becomes more readily available.

For just getting out of the way, the regular EH 6SN7 does very well in the Wright Sound WPA3.5. I don't have any other gear that uses 6SN7s, so I do not know how well or poorly the EH will work there.

This weekend, I stuck the WPA3.5s into the main system. While watching "Bulletproof Monk," and "A Man Apart," I realized that the EH was doing a terrific job of simply passing the signal. Remember, if the 6SN7 isn't doing it's job, then it will compromise the 2A3's performance.

I have tried the EH 12AX7 and EL-34. The former is so-so, good as an OEM tube, but nothing special. The latter isn't as rolled off in the top as the SED/Svetlana EL-34. To me, the EH EL-34 is a good buy. As for the 12AX7, I wish the EH were better at retrieving low-level detail.
