Self Bias circuit sure need a Matched pair. Adjustable bias don't have such problem. Also I say it need to match top tube and lower tube pair by pair is need. If you push/pull amps have 4 pair of Tube. It is no need to matched all 8 tube. It only need pair by pair is OK.
