Mullards 5-20 circuit .

I normally seen an amps using mullards 5-20 circuit that bias the EF86 at around about 2.2v , with 2.2kohm cathode resistor.
I have an amp that also use this circuit but the bias only around 1.2v or so .
I can see the different is because my amp on the bias circuit have the resitor of 920ohms instead of 2.2kohm in a basic circuit .
my question is . is this make sence if the design been altered by the designer or I may have a wrong resitor by some one mistake ?
the amp sound fine at the moment .

any advice on this please .
