6bl7 amp

68.110.225.239

I just got a rather unusual amp, a push pull 6bl7 sucker. It also has a 6sn7 and a pair of gj5gt tubes as the drivers. I wanted an all triode design, but it's difficult to find an amp like that that isn't single ended. I do like single ended amps, at least for a while, but they wear me down. Ever since I heard a push pull 300b amp, I knew the type I liked.
In any case, it's just what I was looking for. My midrange is back, and my bass is better than its ever been. It was an immediate improvment over my Monarchy Audio sm70 (which is now on Ebay, plug plug plug:-). The SM70 is a nice amp, but it tends to get a little glassy in the mids, at least with my speakers (Phase Tech. PC3).
Jim Munzer (formally?) of granite audio built this as part of some new amps that he is selling directly. He's got a creative streak in him, he was also selling a push pull 47(!?) amp and an all globe preamp. He tells me that a triode connected push pull 807 amp is in the works, I might have to save up for that, I've always wanted one that didn't have "VTL" on it...:-)
So, has anyone else heard a 6bl7 amp before? Am I now the biggest audio geek around since I have a fairly unusual piece of equipment? I love it!!!

Isaac
