Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I've recently discovered that my amps sound considerably better when using 6GH8A's that measure 95 and above on a B&K 747 tube tester. Impact and detail suffer when using the lower Gm tubes. I've been using NOS RCA's with black plate triode sections that sound great provided they have been screened for Gm and matched. Unfortunately this results in 67% rejected when selected for Gm alone. I'm not sure if the lower Gm tubes are unsuitable for audio or just my amps, but I sure am collecting alot of them.I know that this is medium-mu tube, but I was wondering if there is another brand available that tend to have higher gain resulting in less rejects.
