brian:i had this combo for three years with a mm cartidge and found that the sound was very impressive. i listen to mostly classical music. i recently sold the phono stage since i got an mc cartridge and an aries with a 12.5 arm. the AES preamp and phono stage outplay many systems that cost a great deal more. if you do get the AES preamp and phono stage the upgraded capaciotrs and NOS tubes wil make a difference in the sound quality.
