what is the best way to reduce poweramp input sensitivity ?

I can think of two way to reduce the sensitivity on vintage power amp " 125mv down to about 500mv" . that is to use a resitors device or alter the feedback .
please share with me if there is some other way or tell me which of the above mentioned to be the best way .
