Thanks Jim.
My ignorance is now abundantly clear and eliminated. I was under the impression that each triode in a double triode tube corresponded to the left or right channel in a traditional stereo preamp and therefore its gain and other sonic characteristics would directly affect only THAT channel. Boy was I wrong.
Of well, live and learn.
Thanks again,
P.S. Just so that I am clear, if I buy a tube that is rated (for e.g.)44/28 where 24 is considered "strong/passable/acceptable/or pick a euphemism" I shouldn't worry, provided it is giving the circuit it is in the minimum"stuff" the circuit requires to deliver
its payload and perform adequately ? Please comment ??
