I totally agree. I've got 50 or so 6sn7 types, most NOS. I'm currently using NOS TungSol (1942) VT231 round plates in a Berning microZOTL. They have nicer mids, better bass, extended highs and more "air" than any 6sn7/VT231 I've heard, although it seems as if most of the VT231's are better than almost all of the 6sn7's.
After VSAC, I'll probably convert my Hagerman Cornet to octal tubes with (of course!) a NOS TungSol in the cathode follower position.Regards,
