Cary,If you are smelling this "PCB" odor while the unit is playing, stop playing it. I've seen plenty of older amps, where the cap can pops and all the guts spill onto the chassis. A world of a mess.
If those cans are older than 25 years old, better think about replacing them with hopefully new can or a replacement cap filter board.
