Like Bill, I've had CJ gear since the beginning of CJ. I've had almost no little trouble with any of it. I had a power supply transistor fail in my PV-2A about 25 years ago. CJ serviced it and it's been reproducing lovely sounding music ever since. Of course, I've replaced some tubes. I'm currently using a pair of MV75s as monoblocks mod'ed by Bill Thalmann - one I bought new in the seventies, a Premier 11A, a PV2A I bought new, and a PV-12A.I would STRONGLY suggest dropping Bill Thalmann an email - bill@musictechnology.com - about your woes. I've had lots of dealing with Bill and from my experience, and the experience of others I've spoken with, he's top notch. He's put many a piece of CJ gear right. Once right, it should be right for a VERY long time.
From my experience with the CJ gear, with the exception of the tubes, you should be able to expect similar reliablity to any other audio gear. Tubes can be quite the phonemena but it doesn't require that you become a tube hobbyist necessarily to enjoy tube audio gear. I think once put right you'll enjoy your CJ gear a lot.
