Wondering about tube replacement for E88CC's

66.138.141.227

I have an Antique Sound Lab LH-01 preamp/headphone amp which I bought not too long ago, and it currently has JJ electronics E88CC tubes in it. The sound is currently pretty neutral, and I was wanting to try out something else to get a warmer, lusher tube sound. I've been told that the Mullard 6992 is very smooth and laid back, but I feel that this would be too expensive for a $400 preamp. Is there a tube out there that has the sonic characteristics of the mullard (lush, laid back, smooth), but with a more modest price, preferably under $35 a pair?
Thanks a lot for any help
