Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

I am trying to come up with a circuit that has a gain of about 1.2 to 1.5 for my preamp/crossover. I need 2 stages for the tweeter and 3 stages for mid and 3 stages for woofer for a total gain of about 2, so with 6 per channel I'm trying to keep it pretty cheap.
The 6N1P operating point I'm thinking of is 200V plate, -3V grid which will run at about 6mA with an OPT (Handmade's Hammond H734 5.0k 80ma./8 ohm). The load is 1K from Marchand's LC passive crossover, so the 6N1P sees 625K load so this should give me close to full mu gain and with the stepdown a final gain of 1.3. I could put a resistor load across the transformer's output to adjust for proper frequency/transient responce.
I will have 2.5V RMS from my DAC to a Sowter TVC to this crossover to Decware Selects with .5-1 Meter interconnects.
Any opinions/suggestions?
Feedback please!!!
Thanks
