Rightly or wrongly, the sentence you quote from Stereophile only indicates to me that the writer does not fancy the circuit topology. It certainly does not corroborate any allegation that ARC products are unreliable due to abuse of tubes. I say again, particularly with respect to ARC pre-amps, that they are by all accounts exceedingly reliable in the very long term (see also the posts on the SP10 and SP11). Back in the70's I did own an SP3, but I have owned no ARC product since, so I have no axe to grind.
