Re: Chris' Nasties

Yeah, people lie, and I'm tired of dishonesty. But both these jerks swore up and down about the low hours on the 6550s. You're right -- they probably clocked way more miles than claimed.

But the question still remains -- why does ARC drive the tubes to their limits in these designs? I read all over the place of people who have original output and input tubes in 30 year old amps and they operate and sound fine. What happened along the way that designs deviated so far from the voltage/current parameters that the old guys who really knew how these devices were supposed to operate, and designed them accordingly, thus producing designs that can go and go and go.
