Re: ARC - Bad circuit designs that eat tubes?

I hate posts like these - an unidentified source trashes a competitor for sport. Yuck! If this guy doesn't have the guts to say what he did in public and put his own reputation on the line, I certainly would not listen to him much less buy from him.

As for ARC circuit designs, my engineering degree is mechanical not electrical so I'm not qualified to comment. However, I do have practical experience. I've owned 3 different ARC products and never have had a tube problem with any of them. Case in point. I recently replaced the tubes in my D115 out of guilt after running them many hours over a period of 5 or 6 years. In truth, the new tubes don’t sound a whole lot different than the ones that were in there which leads me to conclude the old ones were fine. Further more, a friend also has a D115 with tubes that are approximately 7 years old and another friend has a D79B whose tubes are 8 or 9 years old. Neither has had any problems. Of coarse, age is not the primary factor in determining tube life, hours of use is. On this I can only speak for myself, but I would estimate the tubes I replaced had a bare minimum of 2000 hours on them, most likely two or three times that. The proof is in the pudding.
