ARC - Bad circuit designs that eat tubes?

I spoke to the chief engineer of an important audio corporation about Audio Research. Since this was in confidence, and for other reasons, I cannot divulge the identity of the corporation. He feels that all Audio Research products show a gross lack of proper tube engineering. He said ARC circuits are all very high voltage, running both small signal and power tubes into range they were never intended to run. That is why they eat tubes so quickly. For example, he claims the 6922 tube was designed for high current and low voltage; and that ARC circuits give it the opposite--high voltage and low current. He also claims KT-88 and even the 6550 tubes have such short life spans, or arc out prematurely, because they are run at such high voltages, they nearly burn the life out of them.

I'd like to hear from some of the techies here who could comment, from a circuit design standpoint, how they feel about ARC's designs.
