I ran a new set of KT90 Type III's in my AES DJH Superamp, and initially they kept blowing tube fuses. Kevin Deal of Upscale Audio recommended burning them in with no tube bias for 72 hours, which is what I did, and the tubes did indeed settle down. As to how the sound changed, I felt that even after a couple of hundred hours use, they were still thin and bright, with significant midrange leanness. They were extended in the bass and treble, but IMO there are a lot of far superior sounding tubes out there, including both NOS and new production. My head kept telling me these were supposed to be great-sounding tubes, but my heart kept telling me otherwise. If your system tends toward warmth, you might like these tubes.
