The older GZ34 were pretty hardy. I've been using mine for several years of steady use and it's an original RCA in a dynaco ST-70, 40+ years. The joke is a Mullard is the last GZ34 you'll ever buy. Sure they go bad. Sound starts to sag, less dynamic, poor bass, bias to low, low voltage in the power supply,....
If you are suspect try to find the schematic and check voltage test point for the rectifier in your amp. Here is a link that may also have test voltages. I believe you test it with the output tubes removed but PLEASE ask other first.
