I think there are 11 tubes within a very small space and all are shielded. I would imagine it would be to protect against interference noise. But no other Dynaco product I'm familiar with has tube shields except the FM-3 and other units have tubes close together? But now what about the heat dissapation factor? This thing really cooks and do the shields worsen tube mortality?
