Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I've seen a lot of posts asking about different makes and vintages of tubes. However, the tube seeker always seems to be after similar characteristics in their tubes. Of course, finding the "best" tube has everything to do with a persons' individual taste and the circuit the tube will call home. However, the recommendations tends to typically revolve around a select few tubes in the most popular tube types and applications.I propose a variation on this question.
In the popular tube categories (let's say, ECC83, EL43, 6550, etc), which - in your opinion - is the absolute worst sounding tube, NOS or current production. Not looking for bashing of current production tubes. Anybody in this hobby knows that there are many excellent tubes being made today. Try to keep the flame turned down a bit on this one. This could be a fun discussion!
Which tube have you purchased that you regretted buying the most due to its poor sonic characteristics?
