Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Hi,In an earlier post on 'identifying tubes' there is a link to a great program with a lot of info on different types of tubes.
I was surprised that when you select the 6SN7, that the only substitutes are VT231, CV1986, CV1988. Conversely, if you look at 6SN7GTB it does not mention 6SN7 as a substitute, but lists GTA,GT,WGT,WGTA, and a few others.
For many tubes, including the 6SN7GTA,GTB,GT,WGT,WGTA they call out how close the substitute matches, but the the 6SN7 just lists VT231, CV1986, CV1988 with a notation of 'identical or close'.
Can you safely substitute all types of 6SN7(GTA,GTB,GT,WGT,WGTA) for a amplifier designed for 6SN7?
Thanks for the help,
Lynn
