In my experience, I like ceramic sockets best as sometimes if an output tube does A Very Bad Thing, a big blowout can cause certain plastic type insulators to turn into carbon, which is really not any fun at all.Also of importance is good contact (pin) design and contruction, especially if you are changing tubes a lot.
