Personally, I use Solid State for my subs and 300B for my mains. I use an electronic crossover. This limits the bass frequencies going to the 300B amp and the system plays much louder with less strain. The sound is also clearer due to the limited main speaker's woofer excursion. When I want to be a purist, I simply run the main speakers full range from the 300Bs.If you are running your 300B amps full range, you have to look at the quality of your passive crossover for the sub. Also, you could be presenting the amp with a really goofy impedance curve by throwing two separate passive crossovers into the mix.
