Hello to all:I recently acquired an SCA-35, whose tone controls have just been snipped away, along with the balance control. When I replaced a pair of KT-88 monoblocks/preamp by this in my system, I was astonished by the loudness of this tiny little thing. At barely 7 o'clock position, it plays louder than the other combo with its volume control set well above its midpoint. Needless to say, you have to leave the room, if the volume control of the SCA is barely at 9. What is going on here? Was the tone cotrol circuit acting as a kind of damper? Did the previous owner do the right thing by merely snipping off the tone controls?
Thanks to everybody.
