Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Hi!Yesterday while listening , I noticed that 1 channel sounded distorted a little. On close inspection, I found that there was a kind of Buzz in one of the 2 Capacitor covers(the same channel)Not audible but to the touch. After a few minutes, the distortion dissappeared and normal sound resumed. But the Buzz still remains on that capacitor head. This now happens every time I play the amplifier.
My amplifier is a self biasing 20 wpc Pentode based hybrid Valve Amp using 4 EL34s working in Push Pull Class A mode.
Could anyone tell me as to why this happens and what is the remedy to this problem. Should I stop using the amp till it is repaired or is it OK to use it till then. Your advice would be very useful.
regards,
Max
