Re: Model JD 202A vs AQ1003 DT - which as a secondary amp?

About a month ago I was in the same boat...202 or 1003. I decided on the ASL AQ1003DT and I am very happy I did. The 1003 arrived in great condition, wasn't double boxed but it was in a extra thick cardboard box from China. I am totally impressed with construction, quality of materials etc of the 1003. The volume pot feels tight and precise. The 1003 comes with a BIAS meter right on top with a tube selector knob right in the middle for easy BIAS adjusting...just turn the knob to select the tube and a twist of the screwdriver...that's it! For sound it is pretty impressive out of the box. It's shipped with Chinese tubes which isn't too bad. Image and detail right there. No complaints . My next step...rolling. I'm checking around now for a recomended replacement.
It's pushing 91db speakers with trouble at all. The room is small (12x13)and I keep the volume around 9-10 o'clock. I am very pleased with the overall perfomance and can't wait to try new tubes. Check with Stewart at http://www.weekendenvironments.com/ Great guy to talk to and he gave me a great price with shipping included.
