Fingerprints won't really be an issue unless they are NOS types with fragile lettering. Early tubes (made in the '60s & before) often have labels printed on them in an ink thats water soluble - so fingerprints can smudge them and cleaners are off limits on those if you want to preserve the labels for easy identification. You can either handle them by their tops to avoid smudging them, or wrap em in a paper towell while inserting them into, or pulling them out of, sockets. Tube made in the lates '60s and into the '70s often used a more durable paint like ink thats shiny and quite durable. On those tubes you can clean 'em with water or windex with no fear of removing the labels. And regarding fingerprints & tube life - In spite of what some say, tubes are not like halogen lamps used in slide projectors. Fingerprint oils will not dgrade the tube or shorten its life....In other words, it really aint that complicated.
Enjoy!
