First off, I'm not familiar with your amp.If it is a typical amp, a timer should be OK, but be sure that it can handle the stereo's current draw. Also, I've seen a lot of timers that don't have ground pins. Be careful on that account. If your amp has a ground pin, it should be connected to ground.
