Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Hey guys, this post has nothing to do with my enquiry about plitron xfmrs.
I own a pair of mc-30's and have found that the sound improved greatly by using 5v3a's for the rectifier tubes. These tubes have the same heater current draw as 5u4gb's but have a much lower op impedance(hence a stiffer B+ supply) and they are CHEAP!!!!. I got mine from Electrosonic for less than $10 canadian each. And that included shipping. With these rectifier tubes the bass firmed up and the highs were faster. Can't reccomend them enough.(I only had one problem in the last 3 years of use and that was heater element open. These tubes were designed to be used in t.v. applications and were very reliable)
If any one else that has used this tube please post a yell
Thanks
