we bought a nice Ampex console at garage sale.
This unit comes w/ turntable a pre-amp tuner and power amp. It sounds great for tuner except the loud humming from the amp.I disconnect the pre-amp and still has the hum. The tubes are red GE 7199 and 6973.None knows how old is the amp. What is the easist way to determined the cause?
Replace the tubes(6 of them) or use the console as furniture?
