What did the issue say?
In my opinion, the 12AX7LPS is the best currently produced 12AX7.
It lacks the high end graininess of the JJ 12AX7 and has better sonic
balance and has less fuzz than the Ei. As a matter of a fact, it's the
first new stock 12AX7 that can be realistically compared to better N.O.S.
(Mullard, Brimar, ect.)
Pluses: Great bass extension, low noise, overall strong performer.
Minuses: Midrange could be cleaner. The highs are O.K, but aren't
spectacular... (to elaborate, when listening to BB King or Hendrix,
there is a certain "life" missing from the guitars when compared to
my Brimar CV4004... but then again the Sovtek does a better job
reproducing bass frequencies.)The odd thing about this tube is that it barely lights when on.
The first time I plugged it in I had to turn off all the lights
to see it glow... even then it was faint.Tony M.
