Not trying to bust your chops, I think the Sovtek will probably be a killer deal for the money too. But reliability means like 2000 hours+, and the fil is usually the thing that goes first. It gots to be different for a 2.5 V tube than a 6.3V tube, so there are design changes that will need to be given the long term trial. Certainly you're right, the 6B4G seems a very good tube (although surprisingly the very similar Sovtek 300B is no one's favorite, to my knowledge)so the 2A3 should really be something special.Regarding the general view of what is considered long term reliability, I remember offering to the knowledge pool on the joelist a year or two ago that I got 4000 hours from a pair of the original Vaic Valve VV52s, which were waranteed for 2000 hours. A bunch of joes jumped on that like baracudas, "See, they are overrated tubes that just don't last!" Go figure.
Then they called Ron Welborne and bought every single one he had. I left the joelist, came to the Asylum and things have been a making a little more sense ever since.
