I have put silicone o rings on my small tubes in my preamp and I'm very happy with how quiet things are (put them on the Mullard 6922 input tubes). My friend and boss just got a Cary amp and he says, "wish it was as quiet as my Spectral amps." Is it recommended to put o rings on larger tubes such as the 5R4, 6CG7, 6SL7, and 6BL7 and the larger output tubes on his amp? Phil, if you read this, if the No.116 from McMaster-Carr fits the small tubes, what no. fits the larger tubes, if recommended?
