My floors are hardwood and I also need to pull the speakers out to listen to them (WAF and traffic patterns in the room). I found some nylon screws of the appropriate size. They don't hold a lot of weight when extended and may bend, but if you add a nylon nut to them and screw them down pretty close to the speaker bottom (only extend what you need for balancing) they are damn soli. They allow me to easily slide my speakers across the floor without any marks.One tip - I've marked my floor with little tiny marks so I can easily reposition my speakers each time. However, make sure you are certain before you make these marks. Get out the tape measure and give some good, long listens to make sure your inage is stable and centered. 1/2" does indeed make a difference.
