Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

jackman, here is the original question...

"Mr. Cheney mentions his use of the Infinicap below and remarks that the Infini-Cap is "hand peeled". I am guessting that this means the capacitor is unwound for some reason. Is this done for unit to unit consistency?"

And I beleive that Brian answered that question with his very first response. The thread then seemed to degenerate into many people questioning why Brian uses caps with such tolerances -- with many of the comments very antagonistic. If you would also please re-read my posts you would find that I am also curious about the tolerance of the VMPS caps, but I don't think I attacked Brian for the practice.

There also have been several people who have questioned the value of the charge for cap upgrades to Brian's products, which is what prompted my last post. Please try to keep in mind that Brian runs a business and must make a profit, feed his family, keep his employees paid, pay his taxes and provide long term customer support, that from what I have read many times he does very well. My point was that he doesn't seem to have the same markups as most speaker mfrs, and I think everyone here realizes that, but many don't understand how difficult it is to remain profitable when running a business.
