It is possible to prefer a Spendor to a Harbeth, but I doubt it's possible to prefer a SP 3/1 to a Compact 7. If you want to get a clear sense of the different perspectives, put a Compact 7 against an SP 1/2. Put a hybrid or tubes on the Spendors and a hybrid or good ss on the Harbeths. If your room is large such that you can get the speakers away from the walls, you might also want to try the Harbeth Monitor 30, again against the SP 1/2.
