Steve, try removing the grill cloth & gently (GENTLY & SLOWLY) pushing the woofer in with your hand. Does it move in (and return out) easily/freely/smoothly? If not, shipping may have mis-aligned
the voice coil in the channel (in this case, you can possibly try removing the screws on the woofer & re-install it after turning it 90 degrees). If it DID move smoothly, you could remove the woofer & briefly touch a 9 volt battery to its terminals. If it isn't blown, it should pulse in one direction or another (depending on which terminal you put which battery terminal against). If it doesn't move at all, it is likely blown, if it DOES move, the problem is most likely upstream.
If it didn't move in test #2, you should use a multimeter to take a resistance reading across the (fully removed from the speaker) woofer.
Hope everything turns out OK!
David
