I use a Joule-Electra LA-100 mk. 3 preamp and Joule-Electra Stargate monoblocks with my Merlin VSM-SE bBAM speakers and am very happy with the combination.Marianne Barber at Joule-Electra told me that the Stargates sound very close to their much more expensive OTL designs (actually, her words were "too close") but lack that last bit of air that their OTL designs provide.
There is a pair of used Joule-Electra VZN-160 mk. 4 amplifiers with new tubes available for purchase at Upscale Audio in California. They are asking $6395 (MSRP $14,000). Probably overkill with the Merlins powerwise, but that pair do seem like a good deal.
