I did not compare the speakers you are mentioning, except on paper, I just bought the O500C because of their superior performance (specs, measurements, hardware). If you compare the K+H with the Meridian on paper you get way more features and power in the K+H : the 8000 has no EQ, only one linear phase FIR filter. I also mailed Meridian asking for directivity diagrams for their DSP-series and I got none. The K+H has the unique advantage of providing the possibility of changing its sound should you ever not like it. Room influence on sound is a major problem with most hifi speakers. The K+H's high and well controlled directivity makes it substantially non-sensitive to room acoustics. they would not change their sound very much when playing in different rooms.
For more questions mail me off-board.
