i'd *still* try the rig w/the marchand between the amp & pre. what have ya got to lose by trying?besides using a marchand xm-9 between my subs & monitors, i *also* bi-amp my monitors. initially, i had the marchand between the subs & the monitors' woofers, w/the tweeter amps getting a signal directly from the preamp. i figured, this way, the monitors' tweets wouldn't be degraded by the marchand. but, the sound was significantly better w/everything going thru the marchand. while the xm-6 may be a hair less transparent than the xm-9 (according to phil marchand), based upon my experience w/the xm-9, i still think it would be transparent enuff to give you the best overall result.
