Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Re: Am I doing a bad thing mixing front/rear Ohms?

The lower ohms of the rear speakers will make them a little more sensitive than the front speakers (for the same setting of the volume control ie for the same voltage).

That is probably why you can hear the 'tizz' through the rear speakers but not the front. Connect the rear speakers to the front amplifier (as an experiment) and you will probably find the 'tizz' follows the speaker.

As long as the amplifier does not become excessively hot and/or you hear distortion from the rear speakers then it is probably OK.
