more info:i also have a 40 watt philips surroundsound speaker system hooked up
to the computer if that has any bearingthe wire in question - (about 40' long) begins at the iMac with
a splitter (one line to philips, one to receiver);
3 segmments of cable are joined with 2 connetors to make the 40'
and then there is a stereo to rca splitter at the receiver
(yamaha cr-840)the connectors and cable are all "good quality" as far as i know
