Re: Tweeter in Meridian M2 ??

My recollection is that the M2 used a KEF tweeter called the "T-52" or something like that - it's about a 2" diameter flattish Mylar dome, right??

I tried to buy a pair many years ago, and they weren't available to the public then. I've never seen them anywhere except on Meridian speakers from that era.

I'd guess try KEF channels, assuming Meridian channels come up empty. Perchance the guys at Madisound can help - I think they used to sell some KEF drivers, so at the least they might have ideas for a replacement.

I'd think you'd want to maintain the more narrow radiation pattern that big dome would have - maybe the Audax 34 mm dome mid/tweet might be a reasonable approximation, or perhaps the Dynaudio 54 mm dome midrange. Since the M2 uses an active crossover you probably could get away with not changing component values, but you might have to get a bit creative in matching efficiencies.

Best of luck to you. I have a fond place in my heart for the little M2's - they were my first experience with holographic imaging, and I'll never forget it. I hope you can return your pair to service.
