I think you ned to talk to you gir-friend and then take her the see the smaller Kharma 3.0 CE or get a pair of 2.1 CE used. The finish of these are fantastic and I belive the 2.1 CE is the ticket for you since it uses the ceramic midrange which is the best midrange driver in the world if you ask me.
None of them can be bi-amped but they have high efficiency and high constant impedance.
