Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Re: college student seeks durable speakers for odd room (long)

I recently picked up a pair of Axiom M22Ti stand-mounters and they are great little speakers, in my opinion. I listened to the well-reviewed M3Ti and thought they were darn good too, but the M22s had better bass extension and their sound really belied their size. Problem is, I don't know if you'll be able to find any to audition in your area. You can check them out at http://axiomaudio.com/1M22.html. At $500 (Can.), they leave you plenty of money to spend on that amp/CD upgrade. I suspect that you could combine them with one of NAD's recent integrateds (C350 or C370) to make a nice dorm system for a very reasonable price.

I own a pair of Titans, and while I think they're good value for the price, the M22s sound much bigger and more natural. As a point of reference, I use Vandersteen 3s in my main system and my listening tastes are fairly eclectic.
